In an hydraulic cutting press 29 having a runway 11 along which material to be cut is fed into the press, the runway has extending therealong a railway 13, 14 along which a carriage 15 is drivable to push the material to be cut into the press. The carriage has a projection 33, the front end of which engages a cutting forme 32 upon which the material to be cut is laid up, the carriage being connected to a driven endless conveyer 18. The forme is moved stepwise through the press, the operation of the carriage and of the press being synchronously controlled by a programme disc 27. The runway is provided with guides 35, 36 to guide the forme centrally into the press. The runway comprises a plurality of traversable supports 12, 12a, 38 for supporting the forme, each support including a ball rotatably mounted at the upper end thereof, the supports 38 being spring-loaded. In a modification, the press is provided with two side structures (39, 40), Fig. 4 (not shown), and a rear structure (42), the structures being provided with traversable supports (41, 43, 44), some (44) of the supports being spring-loaded. The side structures are used for preparing formes for cutting and, for receiving via the rear structure formes after they have been passed through the press. |
