Plastics screw press is arranged vertically, and has a degassing zone in the form of a free fall zone. The transport of the plasticised material in the degassing zone occurs by free fall and not by screw action, and consequently an optimum degassing action is obtained, as a result of the greater surface area exposed to degassing.
