The double skinned wall is made of separate perforated metal sheets (11, 12) and incorporates the formwork for concrete columns situated within the walls. Opposing parallel sides (13c, 13d) are joined by horizontal bracing members (16, 17) hinged to vertical struts (18) welded to the inside face of the sides. This allows the wall to be prefabricated completely but folded flat for transport. One side of the parallel pair is bent through two opposing right angles (20, 21) and forms a rectangular enclosure with the diagonally adjacent side. Reinforcing bar is lowered into the enclosure along with conduits before the vertical concrete column is poured. The perforated walls are subsequently rendered with successive layers of mortar and then plastered.
|
