PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL DRIVING METHOD

PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided to prevent the misfiring and simultaneously flickering in a process for driving an AC PDP. CONSTITUTION: The method divides one frame of an inputted signal into a plurality of subframes and assigns a predetermined sustain discharge pulses(sdp3,sdp4,sdp5,sdp6) to each of the subframes and represents multi-gray scales by mixing the plurality of subframes. At least one subframe of the plurality of subframes includes a reset period, an address period and a sustain discharge period. The reset period includes a total write discharge applying a total write voltage to all cells, a total erase discharge erasing wall charges formed on a dielectric layer of all cells by applying one erase pulse and a total priming discharge for activating all cells after applying the erase pulse and simultaneously increasing the reliability of erase. The address period is for designating cells to be displayed according to an inputted signal. The sustain discharge period is for discharging as the number of a sustain discharge pulse assigned to a corresponding subframe to cells designated in the address period. But, at least one pulse which is narrower than the width of the sustain discharge pulse and higher than the voltage of the sustain discharge pulse is applied so that the total priming discharge becomes a weak discharge.
