An electrophotographic photoreceptor is provided to secure superior durability and produce stable and high-quality images against environmental variations for long periods. And a method for preparation thereof, and an image forming method, image forming apparatus and process cartridge using the same is further provided. An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprises at least a photosensitive layer(33) on an electroconductive support(31), wherein an outermost layer of the photosensitive layer(33) is formed by polymerization of a monomer mixture containing at least a tri- or more functional radical polymerizable monomer with no charge transportable structure; and a radical polymerizable compound with a charge transportable structure, and has a film density of from 1.0 to 1.4 g/cm^3. Particularly, the charge transportable structure is selected from the group consisting of a triarylamine structure, a hydrazone structure, a pyrazoline structure and a carbazole structure.
