LAMINATED TYPE PIEZOELECTRIC ACTUATOR ELEMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To interrupt the ingress of moisture from the side surfaces and the bottom of an element by exposing part of inactive portion of a laminated type piezoelectric actuator element to the outside of a resin and by embedding an active portion fully inside a waterproof container such as metal with the resin. CONSTITUTION:A laminated type piezoelectric actuator element 1 is adhered to the bottom of a stainless steel container 7. A portion up to the upper end of an element active portion 2 is filled with epoxy resin 8 having the Shore hardness of A-50. About 2mm above said portion is filled with epoxy resin 9 having the Shore hardness of about D-70 in such a manner that the top surface of an inactive portion 3 of the element will be exposed. Thus, the ingress of moisture from the side surfaces and bottom surface of the element 1 can be interrupted.
