This device feeds gam into a knitting machine. When a higher feed rate is required, a lever mechanism can operated to release the gam from the device, allowing it to be fed freely. Gam is threaded through the upper eyelet, between the feed drum and the drive band, and through the lower eyelet. The drive band feeds the gam around the drum at the required speed. If the gam tension increases, the control lever may be pulled down by cord. The control lever forces down the spring-loaded mechanism which is connected to the upper eyelet, so drawing the gam from under the drive band. |
