PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for winding a thick strip around a coiler for winding the thick strip around the coiler after conveying the strip whose tip has not yet arrived at the inlet side of the coiler when the tail end has passed through the outlet side of a finishing mill on a conveying line on the outlet side of the finishing mill of a hot rolling line. SOLUTION: After the tail end of the thick strip has passed through the outlet side of the finishing mill, the strip is conveyed at fixed speed in a prescribed distance, thereafter, accelerated and wound around the coiler.
