1289724 Calcining limestone BASF WYANDOTTE CORP 29 Oct 1969 [5 Nov 1968] 53065/69 Heading C1A Limestone is calcined in a vertical kiln of mixed feed (limestone plus solid fuel) type, in which combustion air mixed with gaseous fuel is forced into the bottom of the kiln, the concentration of fuel being below the flammable limit for the fuel for the conditions at which the mixture enters the kiln. Fuel injection is not necessarily continuous and may alternate with periods when combustion air alone is used. Inert gas, preferably exhaust gas, may be mixed with the injected gases, in amount up to 50%. Mixing of gases may be controlled automatically, and such a system is described. |
