In a straight-bar machine each head includes two point-bars, whose operative points are selected by a pattern chain or the like and are displaceable across the machine to increase the working range. The bars are displaceable in the same or opposite directions. Each point bar 13 is mounted on a sleeve 15 displaceable along a splined shaft 11. A pattern chain 42 entrained about a rotatable drum 10 pivots levers 27 to move selected points 14 to an operative position. The drums are rotated via gear train by axially displaceable shafts 20, 21. Discs fixed to the shafts and engaging the ends of the drums displace them and the associated point bars during loop transfer or traverse across the machine. |
