The hydrogen is used at a partial pressure of 2-6 atmos and with an average linear velocity in the catalyst zone of 20-200 cm/s, in the presence of a catalyst contg. 0.5-5 wt. % Pt and 0.3-0.6 wt. % alkali metal, pref. K and/or Li oxide, which is free of halogens, esp. Cl, and whose acidity is 1.0 x 10-6 mole NH3/g catalyst. The olefins are used in the prepn. of biodegradable detergents. |
