A drive (1) is associated with a main prime mover (4) with a constant speed of rotation and can be linked to a working machine (5) by means of a planet gear mechanism (3) with a controllable speed of rotation. In order to allow the speed of rotation of the working machine (5) to be varied, the drive (1) is fitted with an electronically controlled planet gear mechanism (2) with a controllable speed of rotation, and the electronically controlled planet gear mechanism (2) is mechanically linked to the planet gear mechanism (3) with a controllable speed of rotation.
