<p>Solns. contg. 15-80% peroxide and impurities (metallic ions) promoting decompositions, are put in contact with activated alumina of particle size 3.36-0.15mmm., pref. 2.38-1.19 mm., for 1-15 min. A column is pref. used. The alumina must be free of alkaline material such that by placing it in 10 times itw weight of water for 1 min. the pH of the washings is not greater than 8. This is achieved by washing the alumina with nitric acid or phosphoric acid then water. After reaction as above normal stabilising agents added to H2O2 function more efficiently.</p> |
