The tyre grip for snow and ice has a ring (2) engaging the outer sidewall of a tyre (P) with arms (5) mounted to slide radially on the ring and bent for use in the snow and ice. The arm ends (9,12) at least partially surround the tyre tread. The arms and ring are not rigidly connected to the fixed wheel rim (C). The ring can have plugs (3) to support the ring against the outer tyre sidewall, and housings (4) on its opposite face, to retain the arms, which extend radially. The arms can be formed of U-shaped steel rods.
