Disclosed are techniques and mechanisms for communicating touch sensor information through a physical layer (PHY) circuit, which provides a high-speed low-voltage interface. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a source device and a sink device separately include its own differential PHY (D-PHY) and protocol logic in order to support a touch serial interface protocol. An analogue circuit of the sink device receives output from a touch sensor array, and each of the D-PHYs exchanges touch sensor data based on the output. The source device processes digital data based on the exchanged touch sensor data. According to other embodiment of the present invention, a firmware interrupt message and a software interrupt message are generated, after the touch sensor data has been received by the sink device, wherein the software interrupt message is configured to respond to identification of gesture event generation based on the output. The purpose of the present invention is to efficiency support data throughput requests of next-generation touch sensor array hardware. |
