<p>The rigid foam is formed to final shape and coated on all sides with surfacing material. The surface coating materials including decorative features are prepared in advance for attachment. Components which will not adhere well can be glued. Reinforcements are inserted for other components for later attachment. Openings are provided where required. The advantage of the method is that the component is formed with a rigid core and finished surface requiring minimum finishing effort. The components are also light. The materials used are e.g. polyurethane foams with a coating of paper, cardboard, fibre board, etc. On foaming the components ate attached by chemical reaction under pressure. A thixotropic interlayer of polyester etc. is used in this case. The foam core can be reinforced by means of fibres or other fillers.</p> |
