<p>PURPOSE:To achieve stable paper separation force by preventing the pressing force, by which a retard roller is pressed against a feed roller, from becoming too strong, through engagement of driving system gears with the retard gear of a paper sheet separating device. CONSTITUTION:In a paper feeding device 10 prepared for a paper feeding tray 1, a paper sheet separating device 13 is arranged downstream of a pickup roller 11, while a feed roller 14 and a retard roller 15 are provided, facing each other. In a driving system for the roller 15, a driving gear 22 of a driving shaft 20 is provided via a torque limiter 21, while a plurality of idler gears 30, 31 are arranged between the driving gear 22 and a driven gear 17 of a supporting shaft 16 for the retard roller 15. Thus, even if upward force (P) is generated between the driven gear 17 and the idler gear 30, it can be prevented that force (F), by which the retard roller 15 is pressed against the feed roller 14, becomes too large.</p> |
