Polyarylester are produced by reaction of aromatic dicarboxylic acid chlorides with dihydric phenols in presence of catalysts, in inert high-boiling org. solvents, at 110 to 220C, with liberation of HCl. The catalyst used is an ester of Ti(IV) e.g. tetra-n-butyl titanate, in amount of 0.05 to 0.1 weight-% with respect to acid chloride. The titanate catalyst increases the rate of polyester formation as compared with e.G. heavy-metal halides. |
