Tensioning means for the opposite tracks of an endlesstrack vehicle are controlled from the steering mechanism of the vehicle so that a higher tension is maintained in the inner track than the outer during a turn. Control valves 90, 91 connected to respective track tensioning rams 34 each include alternative positions in which fluid supplied by a pump 80 at a pressure determined by a relief valve 83 is applied to the rams 34 either through a pressurereducing valve 100 to provide a low-track tension or directly through non-return valves 102, 103 to provide a higher tension which is normally limited by the relief valve 83 but may rise to a limiting value set by a high-pressure relief valve 107. Solenoids 112, 113 which actuate the control valves 90, 91 are separately energized through switches 116, 117 associated with steering control levers or other steering control means 118, 119. A switch 122 associated with a gear selector 123 energizes the solenoids 112, 113 simultaneously to increase the tension in both tracks when the vehicle travels in reverse as described in Specification 1,093,802. |
