The plate belt conveyor has engaging links where connecting pins extend through the aligned openings of the links of adjacent plates. Each plate has a middle link which is made of a flat, metal sheet workpiece and has opposing, projecting tongues which are rolled to form the links with the openings for the connecting pins. The opening of the middle link forms the bearing for the connecting pin and is expanded to allow a side swivelling of adjacent plates. One face of the tongue middle link (18) has cold-formed chamfers in front of the rolled tongues. The chamfers form expanded sections of the link, which allow play to allow the conveyor to run around turns.
