摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a gas absorbing property while restraining an increase in electric resistance of a negative electrode for an alkali secondary battery or deterioration of battery reactivity by forming the electrode of hydrogen storage alloy powder coated without a water repellent resin layer and hydrogen storage alloy powder coated with a water repellent resin layer. SOLUTION: First hydrogen storage alloy powder coated without a water repellent resin layer or with a predetermined quantity of the water repellent resin layer and second hydrogen storage alloy powder coated with a water repellent resin layer thicker than the first hydrogen storage alloy powder are mixed with each other in a predetermined ratio. The thus prepared hydrogen storage alloy electrode is used as a negative electrode for an alkali secondary battery (particularly, a nickel hydrogen battery). Consequently, it is possible to enhance a gas absorbing property so as to suppress an increase in pressure inside of the battery while restraining an increase in electric resistance of the hydrogen storage alloy negative electrode or deterioration of battery reactivity.
