Old German boot remover for single-handed use - has base plate with half-moon engaging boot cap operated by handle

The old German boot remover is made by a base element (1) and reinforcement plate (2) mounted on feet (3) whilst a half-moon member (4) is mounted between two fixed outer beams (5) with a connecting shaft (7). By gripping the handle (8) with two hands and applying pressure on the boot cap by means of the half-moon element (4) the boot can be firmly secured to allow its easy removal. All the individual parts are made from hornbeam and, with the exception of the base element and reinforcement plate, are turned on a lathe. Apart from the joints for the movable shaft all the other connections are mortised and firmly glued.
