The device comprises at least two brace holders (1-5), each adapted to be arranged against an associated vertebral body (7-11) in the spinal column. A securing screw (6,6') is used for fixing the respective brace holders to the vertebral body and at least one elongated brace (12) which is made to extend through and between brace holders and locked thereto. The brace is rectangular in cross-section and that the brace holder is designed to support the brace in such a manner that the first flat side of the brace faces the abutment surface of the brace holder on the vertebral body, whereby the brace during mounting in the brace holders and during correction is deformable in only one geometric plane.
