Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for estimating an outdoor position, which estimate a position of a user by using a genetic algorithm. The method for estimating an outdoor position comprises the steps of: receiving acceleration information and angular velocity information by using an acceleration sensor and a gyro sensor; determining a walking posture, a walking speed, and a walking direction of the user based on the acceleration information and the angular velocity information; estimating a current position of the user based on a plurality of landmark zigbee modules located around the user; and providing a road guidance to a destination based on the walking posture, the walking speed, and the walking direction at the current position of the user. The landmark zigbee module can be a module which is predetermined as a landmark for the road guidance based on the genetic algorithm among a plurality of zigbee modules installed in an outdoor area. |
