The present invention relates to a method of selecting objects that are to be combined to form a short text, for instance a text on a display of a telephone apparatus. The objects are assigned a unique combination of the following elements: a diagonal dash (/), a horizontal dash (-), a vertical dash (l), an open curve (C) and a closed curve (O). A first element (301) is inputted. All objects that include this first element are presented (303) subsequent to searching (302) in a conversion table. The steps of inputting of further elements (310), searching for objects (302) that include the element inputted, presentation of possible objects (303) are continued until a complete combination (304) of elements has been entered. When a complete combination of elements for an object has been entered, this object is marked (305). The user confirms that the marked object corresponds to the desired object, wherewith the object is included in the text (307). If a further object (308) is to be included in the text, a new first element is inputted. The method is continued until the desired text has been obtained. |
