PURPOSE:To improve sealability without losing elasticity and flexibility and to reduce the cost by forming a shim by classifying a porous sheet into a external region impregnated with perfluoropolyether oil and an internal region impregnated with phorphoric acid. CONSTITUTION:Shims 7, 8 used for stacking sealing surfaces 3, 4 of a fuel cell use fluorocarbon resin made sponge-like sheet as a matrix and a fine isolation band is preformed in a longitudinal direction to divide it into an internal and an external region. Then, perfluoropolyether oil is impregnated in the external region and phosphoric acid is impregnated in the internal region. The shims 7, 8 thus made are assembled in the sealing surfaces 3, 4 of a gas separating plate 2, and the external region which is good in resistance to evaporation at high temperature is positioned at the external circumference of a stack S. As a result, air-tightness is improved without losing elasticity and flexibility of the shim and the sealability of the stacking sealing portion can be improved with less cost. |
