PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent fiber stub type optical device which is small, easy to align, excellent in air tightness and reliability, and is not deteriorated in an isolator characteristic by the influence of an external magnetic field, and to provide an optical module using the same. SOLUTION: This is a fiber stub type optical device S1 formed so as to optically connect end parts of each optical fiber 5 via an optical isolator 2 arranged in a slot 10 by forming a through hole 3a and the slot 10 crossing the through-hole 3a in a ferrule 3, and arranging the optical fibers 5 in each through-hole 3a parted by the slot 10, and is characterized in that a moisture- resistant resin 28 is filled in the slot 10 to enclose the optical isolator 2 with the resin 28.
