Safety device for tool having blade - forms secondary cutting function where tool has other main function

The protective arrangement is in the cutting region (20') of a tool, whose main function is something other than cutting, having at least one blade (21) and a counter-reactive member (22a). A protective strip is arranged close to the blade (21), but out of the plane of the blade, which extends a small distance across the cutting edge (21') so that it moves away, upon receiving a compression force from an object to be cut but does not move aside on being touched accidentally. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for pliers which also have cutting portion to provide secondary function. Simple, inexpensive and effective protective device to protect user from injury by blade.
