A latching mechanism includes a spring biased handle (10) which includes the latching members (14, 15). When the handle is in the latched position it is held against the spring bias by the members in a stowed position. When the handle (10) is rotated by application of, for example, a screwdriver or coin to a slot (17) formed in an outer face of the handle (10) the latching members unlatch and the handle is urged into a deployed position. The handle (10) may be then used to remove the item that is latched by the mechanism. |
