The invention relates to a decorative element (10, 12) for water fittings, comprising a sleeve-type section which is produced of plastic, the decorative element (10, 12) for water fittings being placed on the water fitting (1) via said section. The decorative element is characterized in that the sleeve-type section is produced of a composite material including a cured polymer binder (16) and a particulate filler (18) incorporated thereinto.
