Preparation of N-substituted alkoxyalkylamines of formula:- where R = C3-20 sec-alkyl or cyclohexyl; R' = H, C3-20 sec-alkyl or cyclohexyl; R" = C2-10 alkylene; and R'" = C1-10 hydroxyalkyl. Fuel oils additives, preventing sedimentation, plastics and resin additives, curing agents for polyurethane foams, plastics and resins, and epoxy resins. The alkoxyalkylamine is reductively alkylated at 200-500 deg.F with a ketone in the presence of hydrogen and a platinum-alumina catalyst containing 0.1-2% by wt. Pt, with possibly a 0.01-5% wt. halogen content of Cl and/or F, preferably in a single step process at 100-3000 p.s.i.g. hydrogen pressure. |
