Automatic sprung ski brake - has bent wire loop passed through brake plate and held down by positioned boot

This ski brake consists of a wire whose ends pivot in points (45) fixed to the upper surface of the ski. The inner ends of the wire are bent round to be linked to the underside of the footplate (9). On the outer side of the pivot points (45) the wire (27) is bent to pass through the brake plates (3), after which it the wire is passed under the foot plate (9) where it passes through pivot points on the foot plate (9). Between the pivot points the wire is bent into a U-shape with its base under a guide rail fixed to the ski surface so that when the foot plate is held down by the ski boot the section of wire (40) passing through the pivot points on the foot plate (9) is under torsion.
