A control device for an automatic transmission, in which correction of a shift point made based on, in addition to the result of shift point correction made depending on variation between transmissions, a variation in vehicle acceleration is performed in real time based on actual acceleration. The control device has means for correcting a shift point in real time. The means corrects a changed shift point based on the value of a ratio between the value of an actual engine speed at a time point at which shift up is determined in power-on travel and the value of a standard engine speed obtained by replacing the value of the actual engine speed with a value in a standard travel condition not affecting acceleration of the vehicle, and on a maximum target engine speed.
