PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the intensity of light of a non-image part during a minute light emission period in addition to an image part.SOLUTION: A color image forming apparatus includes control means for causing a light emitting element to emit minute light continuously over a plurality of dots in a non-image part on an image carrier at a level at which a toner is not adhered onto the image carrier, and adjusts a second driving current when the light emitting element emits minute light in the non-image part a plurality of times in one job in addition to adjustment of a first driving current corresponding to an image part. A driving current obtained by adding the first driving current to the second driving current is caused to flow in the image part to cause the light emitting element to emit light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
