<p>A tile cutter (Figure 3) has a base moulding (11) of plastics material, the base moulding defining a surface for reception of a tile to be cut/broken and spaced upstanding ends (13, 14), cutting/breaking forces generated during use being resisted/absorbed by a steel bar (33) extending between the ends (13, 14) underneath the tile reception surface, metallic guide rods (31, 32) extending between the ends above the tile reception surface, and a steel connecting plate (27) received in the one of said ends adjacent where tile cutting/breaking takes place, in use, the guide rods carrying slidable scoring and cutting/breaking means, and the connecting plate interconnecting the bar (33) and rods (31, 32) without fixing means. A breaker rod (25) can be fitted in the base surface immediately above the position of the bar (33).</p> |
