A novel human gene encoding a protein termed MKK3-Interacting Protein (MIP) is disclosed. MIP expression is indicative of a tissue selected from the group of consisting of brain, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, and spleen. MIP binds to a dominant interfering mutant of MAPK kinase-3 (MKK3) and may be involved in the transduction of extracellular signals into the nucleus which result in the activation of p38 kinase. |
