PURPOSE:To obtain a probe driving device which makes a scan on a piping surface in a narrow space, by using a ring provided with pawls for holding the ring on a piping as a track necessary for a scan in the circumferential direction of the piping, and moving the pawls out and in so that a probe does not strike any pawl when scanning in the ring. CONSTITUTION:The ring 20 is provided as the scanning track in the piping circumferential direction and if the probe 25 strikes a pawl 21 in scanning in the circumferential direction, the pawl 21 is drawn up to allow the probe 25 pass and the ring 20 is held on the piping 26 with the remaining pawls 22, 23, and 24. The pawl 21 is moved down after the probe 25 passes. When the probe 25 further runs and strikes the pawl 22, the pawl 22 is drawn up and the ring is held with the remaining pawls 23, 24, and 21. Thus, the pawls 21, 22, 23, and 24 are moved up and down in order and the ring is held with the remaining three pawls.
