PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new gene comprising a gene coding for such a protein with a specific amino acid sequence as to bring about helicase activity, useful as a medicine, reagent for clinical test, etc., for diseases caused by aging such as a Werner's syndrome, etc. SOLUTION: This new gene is to code for protein comprising a specific amino acid sequence or another amino acid sequence obtained in such a manner that one or a few amino acids are deleted from, substituted in or added to the specific amino acid sequence and bringing about helicase activity, and is expected to be developed as a medicine or clinical examining agent for diseases caused by aging such as a Werner's syndrome. The new gene is obtained by screening a cDNA library produced from a poly(A)+RNA derived from human testis, placentas, heart, pancreas or spleen by emplying, as a probe, a partial fragment of cDNA acquired by amplifying the RNA by means of the RT-PCR method. |
