PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device by which a display of high fineness and high contrast can be obtained. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel 21 of a liquid crystal display is equipped with a plurality of pixels 25 arranged in a matrix in correspondence to the intersections of a plurality of scanning lines Yk and Yk+1, and a plurality of signal lines Xk, switching elements 26 disposed at the respective pixels 25 and holding capacitor elements 32 connected to the pixel electrodes 29 of the respective pixels 25. The analog gradation control to write the signals of the voltages corresponding to gradation data to the pixel electrodes of the respective pixels 25 is performed by the frame frequency of≥120 Hz. The potentials of gate wiring 40 are changed after writing of the signals to the pixels 25 and the pixel voltages are so controlled as to suppress the DC voltage components to be applied to the respective pixels 25.
