A drive arrangement for a measurement machine moves a spindle sleeve (17) in the z direction using a motor-driven threaded spindle (6) on which is a nut to which the spindle sleeve is connected. The threaded spindle is mounted outside the spindle sleeve and adjacent to its path of motion in the z-direction. The threaded spindle has a mounting at both ends. A carrier (13) connected to the nut is guided on at least one rail (15) parallel to the threaded spindle and the spindle sleeve is suspended on the carrier. ADVANTAGE - The design of the drive arrangement is improved, partic. wrt. its dynamic properties to enable a relatively high speed of operation.
