An apparatus for water purification is described having a funnel-shaped part (1), a collecting container (2) and a tubular filter cartridge (3), which can be arranged in this collecting container and has two sieves at its ends to form a receiving chamber for a water-insoluble purification agent, the filter cartridge (3) being insertable in a sealing manner into an annular mount (6) mounted in one piece on the funnel-shaped part (1). In order to give the apparatus a compact construction, so that it can be conveniently transported and handled on travels and enjoys the same functional advantages as the commercial large water filters, according to the invention it is provided that the funnel-shaped part is designed as a tube (1) open at both ends in the axial direction, at one end of which is mounted a holder ring (6) as an annular mount which surrounds only the upper edge of the filter cartridge (3) in the vicinity of its upper sieve (7) and leaves a receiving opening, which holder ring is provided at its outer periphery with a ring flange (8), forming support shoulders on its two axial sides for supporting, on the edge on the opening side, the collecting container (2) which is furnished with vent openings (12); that the outer diameter (da) of the funnel tube (1) is smaller than the internal diameter (D) of the collecting container (2) and is larger than the diameter of the receiving opening; and that the height of the funnel tube (1) is smaller than the internal depth (Ti) of the ...
