In known motor vehicles with steerable wheels pivotally articulated to the vehicle body by means of a subframe, the subframe is usually a single or double shell of drawn sheet metal and the cast light metal housing of a rack-and-pinion steering is either attached to the subframe by screws or the like or fastened, separately from the latter, to the vehicle body. According to the invention, the cast light metal housing of the rack-and-pinion steering and the subframe are designed as an integrated one-piece component made of cast light metal. To this end, the cast light metal housing has reinforcing ribs or the like cast around its periphery and along its length, lateral console-type runners with bearings for pivotal articulation of wheel radius arms, and bearings for releasably fastening the component to the vehicle body. |
