The equipment replaces a supply- or drain-pipe of concrete, earthenware, plastics or iron, removing the existing one and inserting the new one simultaneously. From a starting trench a machine is inserted coaxially to the existing pipe, having a cutter ring destroying the latter, and an earth-displacement hammer, the new pipe being coupled to the latter by rope. An auger conveyor in detachable sections extends inside the existing pipe from the cutter ring to the finishing trench. The auger motor is at the inside end, while a winch rope is attached to the auger end nearest the finishing trench. As the auger moves towards the latter, its sections are removed in succession without stopping it, while the winch rope aids forward movement of the hammer. ADVANTAGE - Low cost, and no need for a thrust ram in the starting trench.
