PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify initialization of a module interface for connecting peripherals or the like with the outside. SOLUTION: When an initialization instruction is given to the module interface(MIU) 52 by operating the keyboard 46 of a peripheral unit(PU) 40, a microprocessor 56 in the MIU 52 displays questions, etc., on the display 44 of the PU 40, and a user gives needed setting conditions from the keyboard 46 according to the questions. The set conditions are stored in a nonvolatile memory 48 of the PU 40 side.
