A pressure bar and cutting blade assembly for a wood shearing machine comprises a hollow body portion 4, a plurality of fans V mounted therein and adapted to draw air into the body portion through one or more inlet operations, the air being passed over a plurality of heating elements R mounted inside the body portion and forced out through a plurality of outlet apertures F such that air passes over the pressure bar and cutting blade. The arrangement prevents condensate forming on the pressure bar and cutting blade and staining the veneers cut from the wood stock. The fans are electrically driven and the elements are of the electric resistance type. |
