PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerant filling method capable of shortening the time required for refrigerant filling and the time required until operation is enabled after refrigerant filling in the refrigerant filling method in a refrigeration device using carbon dioxide as the refrigerant. SOLUTION: The refrigerant filling method in an air conditioner 1 using carbon dioxide as the refrigerant comprises a first refrigerant filling step and a second refrigerant filling step. In the first refrigerant filling step, the refrigerant is filled in a gaseous state into a refrigerant filling object part including refrigerant communication pipes 6, 7 until a pressure of the refrigerant filling object part increases to a predetermined pressure from the start of filling. In the second refrigerant filling step, the refrigerant is filled in a liquid state into the refrigerant filling object part until the amount of the refrigerant filled in the refrigerant filling object part reaches a predetermined amount after the first refrigerant filling step.
