<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide human MAP (mitogen-activated protein) MKKs (mitogen-activated kinase isoforms), and to provide a method for utilizing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The MKKs mediate unique signal transduction pathways that activate human MAP kinases p38 and JNK, which induce activation of other factors, including ATF2 (activating transcription factor-2) and c-Jun.
