PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermal recording material which has an outstanding image contrast and excellent image conservabilty and heat resistance. SOLUTION: This reversible thermal recording material has a heat sensitive color developing layer containing an electron donative coloring compound, an electron acceptive compound and a binder, formed on a substrate. In this case, as the electron acceptive compound which generates a reversible hue change in the electron donative coloring compound, a substituted phenoxy carboxylic acid compound is used which has at least one kind of a substituent selected from a group having a 6-30C alkyl group or a group having a 4-22C alkylene group.
