PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in high conversion and good selectivity by isomerization reaction of epoxybutene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a specific metal compound and an onium iodide salt in a liquid phase. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by isomerization reaction of (A) epoxybutene in the presence of (B) a catalyst comprising (i) a metal compound containing at least a Schiff base with the metallic element selected from groups VB, VIIB, and VIII elements and (ii) an onium iodide salt in (C) a liquid phase. The metal compound with the metallic element selected from groups VB, VIIB, and VIII elements is preferably a compound containing Co(III), Fe(III), Mn(III), or V(V)=O group. The metal compound containing the Schiff base is preferably an organometallic complex having a chelating Schiff base of formula I or II such as bissalicylideneethylenediamine or phthalocyanine. The component ii is preferably an ammonium iodide salt of the formula N+R1R2R3R4I- (R1 to R4 are each a 1-20C alkyl). |
