A recording apparatus for performing defect management and a disc therefor are provided to record information smoothly by processing a corresponding defect although the defect is generated while recording the information. A write-once disc includes a defect management area, a temporary defect information area, and a temporary defect management information area. The defect management area is formed in at least one of a lead-in area and a lead-out area. The temporary defect information area is formed in a data area, and temporary defect information including position information of a defect area is recorded in the temporary defect information area. Temporary defect management information including position information of the temporary defect information is recorded in the temporary defect management information area to manage the temporary defect information.
